
Mr R was charged with an offence of excess alcohol.
We attended the first appearance with Mr R who had intended to plead guilty following poor advice from another firm.
However upon looking at the prosecution evidence it was apparent that the intoximeter was faulty and despite a very high reading the case was immediately dropped following representations by us.
This was a classic case of a defence being identified as a result of our expertise and one that went unnoticed by a general criminal practitioner.
As our challenge to the reliability of the intoximeter was successful, Mr R was able to recover the majority of the fees he paid for our representation.
Television cameras are to be allowed into British Courts for the first time in history under a move understood to be announced in the Queens Speech in May.
